MIRA VARG

In this project my dreams and fantasies are transformed into a photographic image. My subconscious mind is absorbing various symbols from my every day life, which then randomly arise in my consciousness creating a surreal play in my mind. Self-Reflection is a portrait of my Fantasy.

I let the viewer create his own image from my work.

FEELINGS OF THE SUBCONSCIOUS MIND

is fine art self-portrait photography project created by Berlin based artist Mira Varg in collaboration with fashion designer Monika Jaun

In this project Mira Varg is exploring the self through a surreal language.

The aim is to free the viewers from understanding the world rationally and to take them into the fantastic world to connect with their inner selves.

Experimenting with alternative

photographic processes and challenging the standard of photography is an important part of this project.

Portrait of a dancer is a project where the anatomy of a body morphs in between the feminine and the masculine through an explorative choreography that delves into the duality of the opposite poles we all carry in us. This performance unifies chaos and beauty in a scenery where the two merge, translating themselves into visual poetry.

PORTRAIT OF A DANCER

It is an interactive art project focused on playing with human emotions, the brain and its consciousness.

The amygdala is the part of the brain that processes emotions. It is best known as the part that warns us of potential danger, but it is also known to stimulate positive emotions. The amygdala responds to different human facial expressions, it immediately registers when someone smiles, shouts or stares at you. It is also responsible for our emotional memory.

My project focuses on the viewer and on "alerting" their amygdala.

AMYGDALA

Nocturne (musical composition inspired by night) is a portrait photography project inspired by the beauty of romantic melodies composed by the musical Master Chopin. The subject in the image is portraying a spirit who is floating through the vast universe accompanied by the nocturne melodies.

The photographs were captured on my more than 100 years old camera and therefore the image resemble almost painting like quality.
